I have several IRA’s that are all funded with after tax contributions and have not been deducted from any tax return. Can I convert then in 2010 to a Roth without any penalty or tax payments?

How can I rollover my 401K from my previous employer?

by Roth IRA Answer Gal on June 25, 2010

I’d like to rollover my 401K from my previous employer, but my current employer doesn’t participate in any 401K programs. I was interested in rolling my 401K savings into a Roth IRA but was told that I would be charged taxes. Is there any other type of retirement saving programs where I can roll my money over and not pay taxes on it?

I plan on working another 25 years.

An IRA to ROTH IRA conversion is a legitimate conversion, you have to fill out the appropriate forms, but I’m being penalized as if that was a distribution. Do I have grounds to protest?

I’m a single filer who has contributed ,000 to a Roth IRA and ,500 to an employer sponsored 401k in 2010. My salary will be 45K in 2010. Does anybody know if I’ve surpassed any contribution limits? Also, can I rollover that ,500 into a rollover IRA when I leave my present employer this calendar year? If so, can I roll it over into a Roth IRA with exceeding any limits?
Thanks!
