Already filed - then got investment statement?

by Roth IRA Answer Gal on January 17, 2008

I already e-filed my taxes, thinking I had all my information. Today I got an IRA statement (form5498) from an account that I just started a few months ago and had forgotten about. My Roth IRA contributions total $150. What should I do?

You don’t have to do anything. Form 5498 is an informational form that is provided to the IRS that documents your contribution to your Roth IRA. Since your Roth IRA is not deductible, it has no impact on your income tax return.
